Installation Criteria

 

1. The pump is a fixed point in the piping system! The pipes must be adjusted stress-free to the suction and pressure ports of the pump. The pump must be able to be removed from the pipeline without force (1). The pump must stand firmly on its feet or be mounted on a foundation.

2. The suction line must be checked for tightness, since air taken in will reduce the flow rate.

3. A suction line must be laid rising steadily to the pump (2). A supply line must be laid running down from the tank to pump (3)

4. The suction line should be as short as possible. Pipe bends should not be installed directly before the pump (4)

5. No shut-off device should be installed in the suction line wherever possible. If this is nevertheless necessary, the shut-off device must under no circumstances be used for regulating the flow.

6. The nominal diameter of the pressure line should be equal to or less than the nominal diameter of the suction line.

7. Shut-off devices for regulating the flow rate should be positioned behind the pressure port.

8. When connecting pumps to tanks, appropriate measures (grid, screening wall) should be taken to avoid the danger of taking in air (5, 6).

9. In the case of hot media in particular, the heat expansion of the pipeline must be taken into account. (Tab. 1)

The following installation examples should be avoided wherever possible

U-shaped pipe layouts to the pump should be avoided. These lead to unwanted deposits (1) or air cushions (2).

Valves immediately before the pump inlet should have same flow cross-section as the suction line. The throttling of the valve could result in flow cavitation (3)

Outflow pipes from tanks should have a funnel-shaped inlet area. A straight pipe inlet results in a throttling of the flow (4).
